Day TWO of Swimming Lessons!

Today was MUCH better at swimming lessons. Although, she did whimper a lot before we even left for the lessons. She was scared so we talked all the way to the lessons about why she needs to learn to swim. We came up with the idea of her pretending to be like the Little Mermaid and swim under water like her. I think that helped her a lot. When she first of in the pool she told her teacher that she was pretending to be the Little Mermaid and that she wanted to swim under water like her. Of course...as soon as she went under water...she came up screaming!

Notice she has a new swim suit on....This was given to us by a friend we met at lessons on day 1. Kendal is so tall that her swim suits become thong like on her bum. She we tried out a 4t. This suit fit perfectly in length but not so much around her chest. The straps kept sliding down. But we did however, try a few more and then just decided to buy a two piece. I found a super cute one that is modest and covers her booty! Ya!

Reaching for the wall...notice she isn't crying and she's already been under water! Ya for improvements! If you also notice her little mouth. This is how Mrs. Julieann teaches to close your mouth so you won't get water inside. Kind of fun to see something simple being put into action....already so coach-able! Just what Mommy wants! :)

Kendal hasn't really grasped the concept of kicking BEHIND her. She does the bicycle kick. That's where they kick and kick so hard but it's under them and it's in a bicycle motion. Mrs. Julieann told me it's normal and we're working with her on it.

She did cry after swimming to the wall, but Mrs. Julieann was able to calm her down before going again.

"Now Kendal, take a deep breathe..." It was funny to hear her breathe cuz she's very loud about it...she's still sort of crying during the breath.

Relax Kendal! Take another breathe!

She only reaches for the wall with one hand. If she doesn't get the wall soon enough, she starts reaching back for Mrs. Julieann. When she does that, she usually just sits under water riding the bike.

HAHA! She kept trying to escape today!

"Choo-Choo!"

Now, on day 1...she did NOT want to float. She hurried out and sat on my lap til her next turn. Day 2 however, she NEVER got out of the pool!! Hooray!

She found someone's goggles and wanted to try them on. She only left them on for a few minutes.

Another turn! Notice her new suit and still a thong!

And she still screams after coming up from under the water!

She's trying soo hard! She'll get it soon! She's awesome!

Once again loves swimming in her tube!

Videos of Day 2. A whole lot better than day 1!

That brings back tons of swimming lesson memories with the kids. Of course Tanner was aqua man in water. They all started with the riding a bike in water...until they get comfortable with their face in the water you can't get their little bottoms on the surface so they can kick and glide forward. So fun to watch.

I thought about doing swim lessons this year with Thomas and Natalie, and then I thought they were too young. I guess you proved me wrong. Way to go Kendal, Keep it up! Maybe I'll look into signing them up near the end of summer, I guess I'll keep reading your blog to see how Kendal does.
